Stronghold 2: Steam Edition download is a special version of the second entry in the Stronghold series. The game was developed for the Steam service on PC. Similarly to the original version, this edition of the real-time strategy game was developed by FireFly Studios.
In Stronghold 2: Steam Edition download the player assumes the role of a steward of a medieval stronghold. His or hers task is to expand, defend and conquer the titular fortresses while also maintaining the technological and economical facilities of the greatest army they can possibly create. The game features almost one hundred and forty different buildings and about twenty production chains. The latter, together with various resources, are used for producing equipment and food for the players subjects.
The necessity to keep the fortresses clean is important as well otherwise a plague might break out in the stronghold. Player must also remember about balancing the happiness of his or her subjects as well as optimizing the taxes. As for the military aspects of the game the key to a large-scale victory lies in taking advantage of the strengths and special formations of twenty-four types of units.
The pillar of Stronghold 2: Steam Edition download for PC is two campaigns focused on different aspects of the game. The first one focuses on military conquests and the second one is about economical growth. In addition to that, the developers prepared a sandbox mode (where player can expand his fortress without having to worry about predetermined objectives) and two multiplayer modes (Deathmatch and Kingmaker). Thanks to the integration with Steam, up to eight players can simultaneously participate in a multiplayer game.
Stronghold 2: Steam Edition download is powered by technology created by developers. Despite more than decade since the debut of the original game, the three-dimensional graphics still look decent. It is worth adding that the developers enabled the players to create custom maps and to share them with the community through Steam Workshop.
